The team that Push the birds over the guns get paid of small amount of money and sometimes get paid nothing. The wage is small, like just enough to cover the petrol and lunch(you usually have to bring your own) We do it because we love the countryside, working the dogs and meeting the different team of guns coming to the estate.
The rotation of pegs, so that all guns get a fair crack at the hot seat during the day. You are then fed lunch/dinner with wines etc. It is a great day out, the social aspect of the day is always second to none, the challenge of the birds is always a challenge.
You always more or less know what the bag will be at the end of the day!

Rough shooting:
**Get ready of lots of walking, plus a couple of mini drives...
If you have a working gun dog...this is where they come into their own..I have a little working cocker...I must say, this should be titled Rough Game bird hunting, cause that is what you are doing is working your dogs, and shooting the birds that they find. Sometime you get a bird high coming over, but not usually, the birds are usually medium height, going away or crossing. You must use a totally different style of shooting than with Driven...Driven is all about lead and angle..Rough is lead, angle. safety of what's around, trees, etc. so much more in the day than driven...Lunch is usually in the field, on rough shooting days, you really never want a big lunch, just one with lots of energy. Beverages, a cold beer is always nice, but is usually good ole water.
The bag is always a mix of Pheasant, Woodcock, Pigeon etc....

If I had to pick one way to shoot all year, what would I pick....
Probably Rough shooting..It might be because I have my gun dog. He is made for beating not a peg dog...and I love working my dog, shooting a few birds and having a great time in the field.

Driven..which do I look forward to the most...Driven everytime...it is always such a special day, always with great friend and always a great day....
So the truth I love them both, but the spaniel swings it slight for the Rough shooting

Summer, but you would not know it!

It hard to believe this coming weekend is the Game fair. I remember the first time I went to the CLA was outside of Leeds, it was warm and sunny. Looking at the forecast for this weekend looks a bit pants. Very cool, of as Liz would say,"Cold." showers etc. Just like the past 3 weeks. I knew we had summer back in May. We can't control the weather so we need to just get on with it.

Speaking with the fishing guys and girls its been a great summer for the rivers. Plenty of fish entering the rivers and some rivers have had their best summer for many a year. Fingers crossed it can continue until the autumn, the fish not the weather.

Pigeons have started, and Sportingagent.com have some super happy customers. Over the past couple of weeks, thousands of cartridges have been fired with plenty of good sport! We still have a few days for August open.

If you have not looked at Sportingagent.coms Buffalo offer, Please have a look, this buff was shot last week in Tanz. If all really got down to what we like about hunting its more than just pulling the trigger, its everything. Let me explain, I grew up in the mnts. of NC and 3-4 times a year, me, my dad and some of his friends or family would hike in the mountains. We would go back about 9 miles on a trial/road that was closed off to 4x4's, along this river. We would wet up camp, ie. a tent and camp for 3 nights and fiy fish....because we was so far away from the usual traffic of fishermen that the trout fishing was amazing! Of course the best fishing was the morning and afternoon, so we had the middle of the day was free, that was when we had time to look around, the smells. The nights was totally different, than in a lodge, we wasn't standing around dart board drinking beer, we was setting around a fire telling lies of how the we missed the big one or something like that...
Well this is exaclty what the the Tented Safari in South Africa is all about! The smells, the super dark nights, the great hunting all done on foot straight from the camp, the added bit is unlike my adventures in North Carolina, we have a full staff to cook your meals, build the fires, make sure the beer is cold, you bed is made when you get back...All the usual stuff that a lodge has, but BETTER! Plus our price is only £200 a day, for the PH, food, drink, guide, 3 meals a day, all ground transport, like all of SA, we have a great selection of Plains game...When are we hunting NOW, look,, everyone can do a Lodge hunt, its quite easy, have a hotel staff, have some animals bingo, but Traditional tented Safari...Not thats super Special!

More Great Roe bucks being harvested in England!

Oh, another Gold Medal!!

The rivers of Scotland have said this has been the best Spring for Salmon fishing in YEARS! they thought last year was good, this year has taken the bisquit.

With cover crops starting to peak their heads through the soil, we have to start thinking about driven shooting... hard to believe that we will be Grouse shooting in less than 6 weeks! We have only had 2 days of summer and the thoughts are already for the autumn...

Time to cut loads of wood this summer, not going to run out of wood this year.

We are now into summer, the idea I will update this blog at least twice a week!

GREAT MIDLANDS ROE BUCK

WOW,
One of the guides here at www.Sportingagent.com harvested a Great Roe Buck in the Midlands of England. For hunters traveling across EU it is a have to have, not a would like to have. In short it is a (currently free) booklet that you can get from your local police for all you firearms, rifle and shotguns, my advise would be to get your EFP, even if you are not planning on traveling, but you never know, when someone says,"Lets to to x Wild boar hunt!" If you have your EFP, you are 90% of the way there for have the right documents to hunt those WILD BOAR, plus its free so hurry!!

Roe buck stalking UPDATE:
With the beginning of April a bit cool the bucks only showed themselves, very quickly. But as the temps have increased, the Roe bucks have started showing themselves. And we all know what happens when you the deer stand in the fields a bit longer...More are harvested, so I would say, started a bit slow, but has got better as the month has progressed...So much so, I saw the pics of a cracken Roe buck shot yesterday, proper tall etc.

Pigeons:
I would say maybe another week of spring shooting and that will be it till summer. With spring here so quick, it is more like late May than late April. Of course the pigeons have other things on there minds, plus they can get all the food they need from the trees. I know the warm weather is not the best for the pigeons, I must say, I was fed up with the cold weather and am loving the warmth...Watch out hose pipe ban!

thanks,

Bryan N

UK Game Fair in USA

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 214px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-i8LMpuB6JD4/TXCtDXtr9gI/AAAAAAAAAD8/YoXksxRE3VQ/s320/SPORTSMEN-002066_2.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5580150211728897538" />
We all know that the CLA Game fair is massive, for a lot of people the highlight of the summer and the run up to game season. I was reading some information from USA, where they have decided to have a UK style Game fair in Georgia, with the focus on "Upland Game" hunting or as we know Game shooting. The fair is set to happen in late September, which can be super hot, but I guess its better than super cold. I grew up in the South East of America, and we had nothing like the game fairs, ya we had a sportsman's show, but that was more about bass boats. I don't know why the Game fairs have not made it to USA, I think part of it was because, the boys in the states from time to time, have tried to do this and go over the top with indoor arenas, cost, glossy advertising, cost, so the price to get in is high, and usually on a friday. So no weekend traffic or families. The CLA isn't the cheapest day out, or the most cost effective form of having a tent in a field, but all in all, it is a great way to spend a weekend. Plenty for the fishing person, dog trainer, foodie, clay shooter, game shooter, keeper, etc. etc.
So fingers crossed, they boys from the Deep South will have a great event this summer!

ROE BUCKS ROE BUCKS...
We are coming to the end of the CWD season, and the next event is the UK Roe Buck season.
We Roe buck hunt in most places of the Uk that offer good stalking from Dorset and Somerset to East Riding, Norfolk and Oxford. The hunters from the east come to England, as we have some great quality, but our Roe buck prices are some of the best in Europe. What will cost you over £2500 in Europe, you can get for 1/2 the price .
ROE BUCK STALKING IN ENGLAND
If you are looking for a great day of Roe buck stalking

UK Game Far

2011, What will it be like

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 250px;" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/TUrwNiRDsyI/AAAAAAAAADo/r_03GaB5l_E/s320/Goat1.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5569528004524356386" />
Now that the Game season has finished and estates are checking to see how they have done. What do you think 2001 will bring???
What I think, hmmmm...first I think that the new Governments aganda doesn't have "Stop all shooting" is not part of their agenda. I could be wrong, but I don't seem to have the conversations as I did a few years ago. So fingers crossed the government isn't going to close it down, maybe inflation, on some shoots, yes it will. Will there always be people wanting to go shooting...the answer is YES!
What will gun control look like? Will it change? Do you care if it does? Being from USA, where there is little if any gun control. I am in favor of some gun control, yes I know guns don@t kill people, people kill people. I think if you are a gun owner you do release some of your freedoms, let me explain. Lets say you own a .308 for deer, boar and South Africa, and you come across a dandy of a gun, let say a .30-06, the guns is something special, it was used by Teddy Roosevelt or something. I would have to sell my .308 then I could get the 30-.06. The police would say I needed to because I already posses a weapon that is used for deer, boar etc. So why would I want something similar...Maybe because I want to have it? It is an investment tool? Etc. Etc. Its getting harder and harder to have a couple of guns that can do the same job... Lets be hones, the people who own rifles etc. go deer hunting are not the chavs, that think they are 10 ft tall and bullet proof. These are in the whole very respectable people that love hunting.

So if I look into the crystal ball, I would think Driven hunting will increase in price, almost has to. I would see deer stalking staying about level. Fishing will stay about the same, as long as estate don@t try to squeeze the extra cash out of the fishermen. I will always say, I love the sport and everything thing in it.
so everyone, keep shooting, stalking and Fishing.....

Bryan Nelson

Red Stags starting to Rut

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 208px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/TJjQYoquYOI/AAAAAAAAADc/LiBMhvgVONc/s320/bellowing_red_deer_stag_with_hind.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5519390464994599138" />

Its that very special time of the year for the Countryside of England, Scotland and a large portion of Europe.
The rut of the Red Stags! Today was a very landmark day in the history of Spain, very similar to what happened here in UK. The northern part of Spain, the government there voted, by a small number but still a win, to ban Bull Fighting, weather you agree of disagree with Bull Fighting. The government has not given the freedom to adults to make that choice.

Very similar to what happened to Fox hunting here in UK, the government took away that decision as humans to make. A few years ago, while in Cordoba, Spain we went to a Bull Fight. The guys in the ring, are not peasants from the local village, or chavs hanging out on the corners, these are the true trained professionals. They actually get paid the same and some more than footballers, but each time they get in the ring, it could be the last! Unlike footballers, don't get me wrong about footballers, but still 3/4 ton Bull vs. a round ball??...oh, and if the bull does get the matador, the matador usually does not survive, if they get the horn in the thigh, but the matador knows that, and it is his decision to go into the ring, not the government. The evening was full of every part of the city, from children that was there with friends, to couples going out on a date, and even a Hill billy tourist wanting to see and be a part of the tradition! Oh, forgot to mention, there was no fighting, no body pissed up, no bad language...and now we could be seeing the thin end of the wedge to something that has been a part of Spain for over a 1000 years.
People of Spain, keep the bull fighting, keep the cured hams, keep the partridge shooting, keep the montinera, keep Spain Spain.....olee!!

Spring Roe buck hunting in SW England

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/TCidU7ZFQ3I/AAAAAAAAAC8/Awxaumq1DJY/s320/Andys+Roe+bucks+spring+2008.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5487809128816788338" />
Our Sprig Roe Buck hunting was some of the best to date....Even with the hard winter we had, hard to believe we had a hard winter with the temps we are having now. The Roe Buck hunting guides, said there was plenty of Good Roe Bucks, but the Roe bucks were taking their time cleaning the antlers, due to the cold winter and late spring. But when the Roe bucks did clean their antlers, some excellent trophies where about. The Roe buck hunters from Italy had trip of a life time, with all 3 hunters harvesting some of the best Roe Bucks this spring anywhere in England!

In Scotland they also had some Excellent Roe buck hunting, a bit later than usual, but once the bucks started cleaning the antlers, good sport was to be had. We have heard reports of some estates, just not having any hunting the Roe this spring and would not be harvesting any Roe Bucks till the rut later this summer..

For those hunters that made it out this spring, Well done! Roe Buck hunters that missed the spring hunt..don@ worry, the season doesn't end until 31st of Oct in England, and then the Fallow and Cwd kick off.

Enjoy the summer! thank you for your time. Chinese Water Deer, season is ending, and we have had some super bucks this season....I think the best we have ever had.
3. If Chinese Water Deer is ending Roe Bucks is kicking off.
Roe buck season starts the beginning of April, when a large portion of Europe doesn't begin until the first of May...get yourself to the range and get the rifle re-sighted in. With the Roe bucks in Croatia, we are offering Roe buck hunting with Free Wild Boar!!! you still need to harvest a Roe buck, but if a nice Boar decides to say hello...say hello back! Look at the offer on the site, www.Sportingagent.com and then click to the Wild boar section!

When we do get some warm weather, the crops in the fields will grow like mad, the river water will warm up just that little bit, and the big brown trout will come out to play. TIP: small flies, thin leader, and stay hidden in the bushes beside the river, don't stick out like a sore thumb. I know bright colors seem to be trendy, leave them for friday night, keep the drab colors, as if you was going pigeon shooting.
Then with the Ice melting, you can be the springers will be showing....
We all think that when winter is finally over the sport stops....

Here at www.Sportingagent.com things are really getting busy for spring,
So as much as I hate cutting the grass, and hacking back the shrubs, there is still plenty of excellent sport to be had here in UK and Europe.
Thanks!
Bryan Nelson
Sportingagent.com

Spring Wood pigeon shooting and Al Gore

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/S4wx-suO9II/AAAAAAAAACs/iD4qABj8ewo/s320/P1010220.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5443781002810815618" />
Since December the 14th, we have had winter, not that I am complaining, its good that we are having a proper winter...I know my fuel oil supplier is loving it..I still find it a bit strange that oil and energy prices around the world are dropping except here in UK, where the prices just keep going up and up. Probably still flying around the world flogging his book making millions, making the millions, well done to him, the problem is, he think is is better than any of us and that is where it comes un-stuck for me. And then that leads to more tax on anything that we use for heating, travel etc. This so called global warmering is now such a big business, and I don't think its global warming but the earth evolving...But that is enough on how I feel about Global warming and Mr, Gore.

Pigeon shooting, things are starting to heat up, every day that we are not having rain, the birds are feeding like mad, find the right field and you will have a great day of sport, not saying 100's of shots but still a good day out.
A TIP, THESE BIRDS ARE ALL ADULT BIRDS, NOT LIKE THE YOUNG BIRDS THAT YOU GET IN SUMMER SHOOTING, BUILD A GOOD HIDE, GET THE DECOYS OUT EARLY, AND BE PATIENT...THESE BIRDS HAVE PROBABLY SEEN EVERY DECOY PATTERN AROUND.
We have some great guides that would be more than happy you show the tricks.

Right now is great time foe CWD, Muntjac and Fallow...we have around 7 weeks left in the season...Get out there and enjoy it..

Sorry it is short, more later

Shoot straight!

Mini driven rough shooting/rural business

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/Sx1pELHHU5I/AAAAAAAAACk/sC2oDBmCpPg/s320/Evening+sun+over+pond+drive.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5412597847592227730" />
The best Christmas staff party ever...That was what our customers said last week, after they had been on a proper mini driven/rough shooting day, here in the Lincolnshire Wolds... The team was from Essex, and the usual Christmas staff party was, you know, a meal at the local pub, a few drinks and the next morning a very sore head. These guys had never done game shooting, clays yes, game no...What a cracken day, some fantastic sporting birds, but I am going to say this, the guys caught the weather just ring, a good winters day...We had the team out in the country all day, they left at dark, after walking up and down the Lincs Wolds. The team stayed in one of the little hotels in Woodhall Spa, they had booked a meal in one of the local pubs. The only reason I mention this, is the government is getting ready for another raft of taxes and bull that they are going to feed us, make us thing "oh are not they the holy ones!" As a small business, by the way, this government only wants business that have a staff of over 5000 people, under that size, they don't care. They do nothing to help, I mean nothing, so its always good to hear when someone stays over night, has a good days sport, brings a bit of money into the local economy...
I have heard of more than one business that has left UK for brighter future else where. Where are they going?? USA, France, Germany where the government actually wants small rural business to work! Thanks for your time, and next time you go out and stay at a pub, and eat out...Thanks for supporting a few small rural business!

Countryside and Autumn

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/SunAH5INgvI/AAAAAAAAACc/4ebwdrF08E4/s320/back+to+the+wagon.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5398056870207128306" />
For ya'll guys that are stuck indoors, time for a day off, of a sicky which ever...The conditions are amazing and have been for a couple of weeks. Not the best for driven shooting but spot on for deer stalking etc. I have lived here for around 15 years and this has to be one of the driest Autumns I can remember...Tip Get out and enjoy it!! Looking at the weather forecast, looks like the leaves will be gone monday afternoon, with 2 days of rain and wind, that will be it!

Just a bit of a reminder....Fallow hinds come into season Nov.1, give us a ring, we have loads of deer stalking around....and estate guns to use.

For those that are looking for that fantastic driven day...We have a cracker of a bargin £3800 for min. 150 bird day, all hospitality, gun bus everything...Date Nov. 18 first come first gets...Our day at the beginning of the New Year at Holywell is gone!
We was there last week and had a great day, the team of guns had a great time and we had a great time with them...Hope to see you guy soon!

Quick shotgun tip: If you are shooting winged game,ie Pheasants..and can't seem to connect. Try a couple of fixers, shoot with one eye open, focus on the bird, keep the gun moving. but most of all mount the gun, with the stock touching the cheek first. Give that a try, a fellow gun gave me those tips last week when I just could seem to get on them.

Thanks for your time and get out there and enjoy it, before you know it, it will be spring...

Happy shooting!

Lincolnshire Driven Game!

<img style="float:right; margin:0 0 10px 10px;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/StJDe5EZ_AI/AAAAAAAAACU/Rd1PPK9rQ1Y/s320/Garden+drive.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5391445901910342658" />
We have just had back to back days Driven Partridge and Pheasant shooting here in the Lincs. Wolds. Living here I take it for granted, but if I was to say we have both Traditional driven and High bird shooting all with in just a few miles of each other, giving the gun exceptional value for money, and people living in London, less than 2 hours away.Also, a big bonus is we are that quite a bit drier than the west of the UK. Not saying we don't get our far share of rain, but in general its much drier. And when out shooting and wanting to have a great time, cold wet windy rain can really at times change the mood.
Friday our clients shot at a Traditional driven shoot, producing challenging Partridges and Pheasants, a little gem of a shoot, only the locals know about the shoot. Needless to say, everyone had a great time, with plenty of sport for all.
Saturday, High bird shoot, in the Wolds of Lincolnshire, with some of the Partridges and Pheasants just to good for the guns, again great time had by all. The two days went by in a flash, its now sunday night and time to start next week.
There are still days avaiable for some Great Sport here in the Wolds, if you are interested, drop me a line at Bryan@Sportingagent.com

Oh, the Fallow bucks are rutting like made here, don't about anywhere else, and some nice bucks have been taken.

Hope everyone is enjoying some sport in the first part of October, please get out and have a good time, cause it soon will be February 1!

Shoot straight,
Bryan

CLA GAME FAIR

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 217px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/SoKQ56iQf5I/AAAAAAAAACM/DJi9iSA_LKA/s320/Two+partridges.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5369013030418939794" />
It hard to believe that it has been 3 weeks since the Game Fair, time is just flying. Some say it was their best Fair ever, others did not attend, due to the economic situation. We must all agree it is pretty spectacular in any ones book.
You can bet if you had that many football fans together, there would be 100's of police, police dogs, you name it it would be there. Last year in Lincoln, Lincoln football team was playing somebody, and there was 30 police escorting 20 lads to the local pub, then escorting them to the match, and around the town there was loads police. Now I know why my council tax goes up double the rate of inflation....But hey, if it is football nutters causing problems, thats ok cause its football....If anything remotely came close to that at a GAME FAIR...you can bet the government would be calling for a BAN! We all know this will never happen, I don't know about you but the only Police that I saw was directing traffic. To all you Field Sports enthusiasts, that is something we all should shout about. We don't cause problems, we don't take ££ out of the system, we add to the economy.
Looking at the Game fair on that point a few, it is always a huge success, where over 125,000 like minded people get together, have a good time, share a drink or two, do a bit of shopping and dreaming, loads to eat, and never any trouble. THE CLA GAME FAIR IS ALWAYS A HUGE PH SUCCESS!

Sportingagent.com blog-TROUT Fish and Thanks to my Dad!

Trout, Brown or Rainbow, sometimes we forget about this fantastic sport, especially on the fly. I can remember like it was yesterday, I was around 11-12 fishing the upper reaches of North Mills River in the Blue Ridge mountains of North Carolina. My dad a few weeks earlier we had went to a Trout Unlimited, fly casting day for kids, but as of yet I still had not caught a wild trout in mountain river. I had missed a few, and caught plenty of trees in the process, but my dad was really good and kept right on saying, "your doing the right things, the fish are hitting the fly, you get him one day!" The way me and my dad used to fish was, we would take turns on the holes, if I fished this hole, he had the next and so on. Well, as I came up to this hole, wasn't very big, typical WNC trout river, I cast the tail end of the pool....nothing. So my next cast was up to the head of the pool, right where the bubbles stopped, fly "Quill Gordon" fly rod, a cheap Eagle claw fiberglass rod. The fly floated down about a foot and BAM, the trout took the fly, this time and did not try to rip its lip off, and just lifted the rod, and we as on...This was of course before digital cameras, before disposable cameras, and my mum was the only to use our camera, but I wish I had taken a pic. cause from that day on I absolutely love dry fly fishing for trout!! It is amazing and if it wasn't for my dad, who is an amazing dry fly fisherman in his own right, and getting me hooked into fishing, no telling where I would be now. We had many years of going fishing, and most of the time he caught more fish, but he is suppose to he is DAD. So to all the Fathers that have got someone into fly fishing, I salute you and if I forget, HAPPY FATHERS DAY!

Pigeons, Trout and Quail!

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 195px; height: 320px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/ShB7ut6Sr4I/AAAAAAAAACE/wDtateHNv_M/s320/don+brunt.png" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5336901600962326402" />
This time of the year is always a bit quite on the wingshooting in this country, and the Fields are so grown up that Roe stalking has just about stopped. I know this is going to sound a bit simple and dull, but the key is, "Know your rifle or shotgun, Practise as much as you can" Because the rifle is sighted in at 200 metres dead on, and you only shoot the gun a couple times a year, when the time comes and you have that split second to get that good buck, the odds are not on your side. Go to the range, get to know what you can do with your rifle. Our deer hunting here in the UK, is not like hunting back home, where a long shot was maybe, and I mean maybe 100 metres, it was usually around 50-60 metres, and it was usually in the woods, not on the edge of a wheat field. Be comfortable shooting at 200 metres, and when that Buck or Stag appears, it will be a walk in the park. And the same with Wing shooting, get to know your shotgun, and make it second nature mounting your gun, getting the lead right, follow through etc. Like I said it sounds dull and simple, but you can have the best of everything, and it can be set up etc. But without practise, there will be times when you will struggle, and I am the one calling the kettle black, but if you want to get the most out of your day of Sport, put in a bit of practise before hand, will make all the difference. Ask Tiger Woods, George Digweed, Richard Faulds etc. they still put in the hours.

Country Clothing

<img style="float:left; margin:0 10px 10px 0;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 146px;" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_h_Aqd0A_Ii0/ScJhaBMW-NI/AAAAAAAAABc/2A8HxQ6NDt0/s320/9162++Failsworth+Hats-122.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5314917609875372242" />
Country clothing made in the UK,

Forgot to mention on the last posting, we know there is clothing companies all over the UK and abroad, but we have come across a company here in the Wolds.Raithby Clothing Company, or AEPWORLDWIDE. One of the questions that we hear is, "When is the best time to shoot pigeons?" the answer one of the guides gave me was, "When they are in the field." That is the thing about pigeon shooting, is they are 100% Wild birds. Now is when the guide comes into their own. I would say I could build a pretty good hide, and my decoy set up matches the patterns from the books, but its the guides that live everyday to find birds, and the only way to do this is drive, look drive some more and then drive a bit more and look for them. And still on the day the birds may have moved off. That's Pigeon Shooting, but NOW IS THE TIME TO GET OUT IN THE FIELD!!
Now if you're like me, you enjoy casting a fly, and you're going to fish in England, don't forget your Rod Licenses, in Scotland you do not need one. I have had reports of Fresh fish being caught on the Dee and also on the Tyne.
The indications so far is that Driven Pheasant and Partridge prices are going to hold around about the same prices as last year, so far all we need is for us to have a bad grain season this summer, which will drive up the costs. Looking for a days shooting Pheasants, Partridge, Goose, Duck, now is the time to book, while everything is stable.

Pigeons and Simulated Game shooting

I am sure you're reading this wondering what a title...The reason is, Pigeons Shooting is now really starting to pick up. With the Farmers starting to get in their spring drillings the birds now have something new to add to their diet, besides oilseed rape. Don't get me wrong there have have been some excellent days on the broken down cover crops, but the fresh seeds on the ground is too much for the pigeons to miss out on. After a couple of days on one field, the loose seed will be eaten and the pigeons will be gone, to look for another field. Any one interested in this spring bonanza, give us a ring 07913 080190 or email, Bryan@Sportingagent.com

Simulated clay shooting:
Went on a fantastic day this past Saturday, here in the Lincolnshire Wolds. We have been to a few of these, and some are ok, and some are poor. Not this place, they have a couple of different packages, that range from £60 up to £160.
The top day (£160 per gun) covers everything, you just show up with your shotgun and off you go.
Arrive in the morning for Breakfast, after a bite to eat, off to the clay area, what makes this place so good is you will be shooting clays on the same pegs as a normal driven game day! And if you know the Wolds you will know that we have some very steep valleys, and always a breeze. So as a gun, you are seeing the clays just as if they are game birds not clays, if that makes sense. The drives are set out just like a days shooting, not just 1000's of clays flying everywhere. They guys want this to SIMULATE A DRIVEN DAY IN UK, not a days shooting in Argentina.
You get a few drives, and refreshment break, a couple more drives, then lunch, which is all homemade back at the lodge, then another drive, with a flush at the end of the day. They need about 10 guns to make this work properly. But all food, drinks, clays, cartridges, and if needs be tuition is included..You can't beat it for £160 per gun! In the Lincolnshire Wolds!!one word, FANTASTIC!!

We are taking bookings for every Tuesday and Saturday, Give us a ring, you will not be disappointed!

As my last note said, the Roe hunters are just around the corner, looks like its going to be a bumper season!

Good shooting
Bryan Nelson

Spring into Roe Buck Stalking!

Good afternoon,

We have just completed a very successful week of deer stalking, we have had clients for the continent stalking for Fallow and Muntjac, and all have gone home very happy. Must be something in the soil that causes this to happen. We have had a mixed bag of clients, some that are looking for just some good stalking and others that are looking for that wall hanger and being able to join the club, Gold medal club. There is still Great Roe Buck stalking in England and Scotland, its just now as the corn gets higher and the leaves start filling out the trees, these deer become harder to find. But I know the guides we use will find these deer. If you have never went Roe stalking give it a go, its great fun, and a fantastic way to see the countryside wake up, especially with this amazing weather we are having.
